Application Process Now Offers Applicants Face-to- Face Informational Session

NEW ORLEANS – (Jan. 16, 2019) – The Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB) has announced a new round of charter applications for Spring 2019. The OPSB is excited to receive applications for schools that will continue to further the school board’s vision and long-term goals for the future, one where every student in New Orleans receives a high-quality education that fosters his or her individual capabilities, while ensuring that they thrive and are prepared for civic, social and economic success.

Applicants will have the opportunity to participate in a Face-to-Face Applicant Information Session on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at the OPSB central office and an Applicant Informational Webinar on Thursday, Jan. 17. During these information sessions, the OPSB will discuss the application process, how to apply, the time, applicant expectations and more. Following the professional comments, the applicants can move forward with the full application within the application period.

Interested applicants will need to submit a letter of intent to apply prior to application submission by Monday, Jan. 28, 2019.

“As we start the Spring 2019 Charter RFA cycle I am hopeful that we can continue our mission of setting those with proven, successful models up for continued growth and success,” said Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Henderson Lewis, Jr. “We must continue to offer our students the best of the best and replicate and expand those programs that have our children’s academic interests at heart. We are seeking the best applicants with innovative ideas and workable plans from a broader spectrum of our community while providing valuable assistance on the front end.”

Applications will be received through March 1, 2019, with the Superintendent’s final recommendations to be presented to the OPSB during its May Board Business Meeting.
